Job Description



NBC News Digital is seeking a highly organized, strategic and execution-focused Special Projects Associate to lead special projects and editorial operations across our NBC Select commerce and affiliate business. This role will serve as the operational backbone of the team, overseeing major cross-platform initiatives, managing key partnerships and guiding high-visibility editorial moments from concept through completion.

This person will inherit and lead several cornerstone initiatives, including the Telemundo commerce partnership, broadcast commerce integrations, and our annual Wellness Awards franchise. They will also oversee operations and production and play a role in guiding the brand through an upcoming rebrand and Gen Z audience expansion strategy.

This is a highly collaborative role that requires exceptional organization, strong editorial instincts and the ability to drive complex, cross-functional work forward in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage operations and production, ensuring seamless workflow across content, design, product development and distribution
  • Oversee and continuously optimize workflows across editorial, art, audience development and affiliate partnerships
  • Build scalable systems that improve efficiency, transparency and cross-team collaboration
  • Train and onboard new team members on editorial systems, production processes and best practices
  • Own and execute large-scale editorial initiatives, including the annual Wellness Awards program from planning through launch and post-mortem
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, stakeholder communication and cross-functional alignment for tentpole initiatives
  • Identify risks, troubleshoot roadblocks and ensure projects stay on track and aligned with business goals
  • Develop repeatable playbooks for major editorial franchises and partnerships
  • Partner with leadership on rebrand execution and rollout across editorial and commerce platforms
  • Help operationalize Gen Z audience targeting strategies, ensuring alignment across content, voice, platforms and partnerships
  • Collaborate with design, social and audience teams to evolve brand presentation and workflow accordingly
  • Track and communicate project status, key milestones and performance metrics to senior leadership
  • Balance daily editorial operations with long-term strategic planning
  • Take an active role in creative and brand initiatives that enhance market presence and audience engagement

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in editorial operations, project management or similar roles within a digital media environment
  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional editorial projects from ideation to execution
  • Deep familiarity with CMS production, affiliate workflows, SEO best practices and technical troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of commerce publishing and affiliate partnerships
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously
  • Clear communicator who can align stakeholders across editorial, design, product, affiliate and executive leadership
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapting to evolving priorities
  • Experience with project management platforms (AirTable, Asana)
  • Experience working with broadcast or cross-platform integrations is a plus

  • Hybrid : This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $62,000 - $72,000
