Response Services/Consultation:

School counselors consult with teachers, administrators, support staff, parents/guardians, community agencies, and medical professionals regarding strategies to help students and families. Counselors serve as advocates for students in all consultation situations. Often there is a need for a Release of Information (ROI) when consulting with someone outside of the immediate Edison community.

Individual and Small Group Counseling:

Edison High School Counselors provide counseling for students navigating emotional, relational, personal, and developmental challenges.

  • Counseling is intended to be short-term and solution-focused to help students identify problems, causes, coping skills, and develop goals to take appropriate actions.
  • Edison High School Counselors do NOT provide clinical counseling services.

  • We provide psycho-education and resources to students and families facing emergency situations.
  • We serve as a provider for other high schools’ crisis team process in response to suicide, accidental death, or other tragedies that may affect high school communities within the private school sector.

  • Referral sources can be mental health agencies, social services, and community services.
  • Counselors are mandatory reporters to the Department of Health and Human Services for suspicion of child abuse and neglect cases.
