Job Description

Labcorp is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our 1302 Hall Boulevard location in Bloomfield, CT!

Work Schedule: This is a full time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST . Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues associated with complex robotic systems, including electro‑mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, infrared laser markers, and vision systems.
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing and field processes focused on quality, efficiency, availability, and cost reduction.
  • Investigate part design and manufacturing issues and author Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to implement corrective actions.
  • Design and procure tools and equipment to enhance manufacturing quality and efficiency.
  • Create and implement standardized manufacturing methods to ensure smooth product flow through assembly, qualification, and shipping.
  • Develop work instructions and manufacturing processes for new products and updates to existing products.
  • Provide technical expertise to supply chain partners focused on quality improvement and cost reduction.
  • Lead initiatives to identify and implement cost‑effective outsourcing strategies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Create, manage, and maintain manufacturing work orders including routings.
  • Verify manufacturing compliance and inventory disposition in accordance with approved ECNs.
  • Support Customer Care as needed to minimize production equipment downtime.
  • Create models to forecast end‑of‑life timelines for automation equipment.
  • Perform Bill of Material audits and ensure accuracy.
  • Support manufacturing process development for both new and existing products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or an Associate’s degree with 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, or a high school diploma with 4 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • 3 or more years of experience supporting complex electro‑mechanical systems, laser markers, and pneumatic systems.
  • 3 or more years of experience participating in engineering change processing.
  • 2 or more years of experience using 3‑D CAD tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of experience using SolidWorks.
  • 2 or more years of experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles in a high‑tech, low‑volume environment.
  • 1 or more years of experience working directly with suppliers to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • 1 or more years of experience using data analysis tools such as Tableau or Salesforce.

Additional Job Standards

  • Understanding of ERP systems and manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience using Microsoft Business Central or Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or more such as inventory, tools, or instrumentation.

About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical expertise supporting manufacturing and installed automation systems. This role designs and improves manufacturing and field processes to ensure cost‑effective production aligned with product specifications and quality standards. The position manages work order execution for new builds and spare assemblies while collaborating with supply chain, customer care, and engineering teams. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in optimizing manufacturing flow, enhancing product quality, and supporting the full lifecycle of complex robotic systems.
